The following Public Transportation Routes service
the Abington Township Area:
Dear Abington Township Bus Patrons
Due to a projected substantial deficit in the 2005
Abington Bus operating budget, it was necessary to think
"creatively"; therefore, Abington and
Cheltenham Townships have entered into an agreement with
Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc. to provide a combined bus
service.
Effective Monday, January 31, 2005 the bus will run
in Abington Township on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
from 8:50 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will no longer
be service in Abington on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The bus will run in Cheltenham Township on Tuesdays,
Thursdays, and Saturdays. The route map will
remain the same as will bus provisions (handicapped and
wheelchair accessibility).
By combining our resources the Townships were able to
"break even" and still provide bus service to
you. We regret what may be an inconvenience for
some customers by not having Tuesday and Thursday
service, but hopefully the new program will be a way to
keep the bus program alive.

Shared Ride Program:
Montgomery County residents ages 60 and over are also
eligible for the Shared Ride Program, which offers point-to-point
transportation by appointment at discounted fares. For
more information on Montgomery County's Shared Ride
Program, call 215-542-7433.
