The seed for Abington
Township was planted over 300 years ago.
Starting as an area dedicated to farming it has
grown into a bustling suburban community
complete with excellent medical, educational,
and public facilities. Our Township Staff
and Board of Commissioners are dedicated to
bringing our community first-rate services while
constantly searching for ways to improve those
services. As a result of these efforts,
Abington is considered a leader in
Montgomery County for most of our municipal
programs. In addition, we are moving
forward with our efforts to improve traffic
conditions, install up to date storm water
control systems, and preserve open space in our
Township.
One constant has remained over Abington's
long history and that is the dedication of our
citizens to volunteering to help with community
activities. Each day thousands of
residents are active volunteers in everything
from youth activities to service as guides at
the Briar Bush Nature Center. That
dedication to our community is the foundation of
making Abington such a wonderful place to live.
